The Godfather star Robert Duvall has died at the age of 95.
The Hollywood actor – who won an Oscar for Tender Mercies – died “peacefully” at his home, according to a statement by his wife Luciana Duvall.
Duvall played the smooth mafia lawyer Tom Hagen in The Godfather and stole the show with his depiction of a surfing-crazed colonel in Apocalypse Now.
He often played forceful leaders such as Lieutenant Colonel Bull Meechum in The Great Santini and the title character in Stalin, as well as broken-down and fallen characters in Tender Mercies and The Apostle.
He won awards for both types of roles.
