Tennessee Track and Field Shines at Tyson Invitational, Setting Records and Climbing National Rankings
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Tennessee track and field team delivered a dominant performance at the Tyson Invitational, held February 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, achieving numerous personal records and bolstering their national standing.
Men’s Sprints: A Historic Performance
The men’s 4x400m relay team—comprising Andrew Brown, Andre Jackson II, Saad Hinti, and Harry Barton—set a modern program record with a time of 3:02.46, currently ranking them No. 4 nationally in the NCAA for the 2026 season. UT Daily Beacon
Senior Traunard Folson equaled his NCAA-leading time in the 60-meter dash, finishing second with a time of 6.49. Davonte Howell followed closely, securing third place with a time of 6.52. Howell previously ran a 6.49 earlier in the season, making Tennessee home to two of the nation’s fastest 60-meter sprinters.
Howell continued his strong showing in the 200-meter, achieving a personal best of 20.58 for third place. Senior T’Mars McCallum Jr. Also set a new personal record of 20.69, ranking ninth in program history. Andrew Brown added to the list of personal bests with a 400-meter time of 46.29, the sixth-fastest in school history, while Carter Knox currently holds the eighth-fastest 800-meter time with a 1:49.08.
Women’s Sprints: Leading the Charge
Myreanna Bebe claimed first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.98, her second-best career time. This performance places her second nationally for the 2026 indoor season and 22nd in the world. UT Daily Beacon
The women’s 4x400m relay team of Esther Joseph, Javonya Valcourt, Cheney Wright, and Jounee Armstrong clocked a time of 3:29.47, the third-fastest in program history. Esther Joseph also won the 200-meter title with a time of 22.94, ranking her seventh nationally.
Field Events: Personal Bests Abound
Grant Campbell continued his impressive form, winning the high jump with a clearance of 2.19 meters, a new indoor personal best that ranks him 12th nationally. Sky Tolbert achieved a pole vault jump of 4.40 meters, moving to third in Vol history. Ismaila Sawaneh tied for second in the pole vault with a jump of 5.65 meters, just one centimeter shy of his personal best. Cedrika Williams secured the No. 5 spot in school history in the weight throw with a mark of 20.37 meters.
Distance Events: Records Fall
Tennessee’s distance runners also excelled. Nelson Seteck broke his own school record in the men’s mile, winning with a time of 3:55.90. Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka broke her own UT freshman record in the mile, finishing second with a time of 4:34.61. Jaci Sievers and Haley Loewe both achieved personal bests in the 3000-meter, with Sievers improving her time by over 14 seconds and Loewe by more than five seconds.
Looking Ahead
Tennessee will now prepare for postseason competition at the SEC Indoor Championships, hosted by Texas A&M on February 27-28. UT Sports
