REPLACED Release Date Delayed to April 14, 2026 on Xbox Game Pass
Players who subscribe to the Microsoft service will have to wait longer to play the anticipated cyberpunk title.

2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Xbox Game Pass. Following recent price increases , the service needs to demonstrate its value with day-one premieres and compelling additions. However, news has emerged that will disappoint some in the community.
Recent Game Pass Additions
The paid program started the year strongly, with several high-profile titles added to the catalog in recent weeks, including Star Wars Outlaws and Resident Evil Village. Recently, High on Life 2, a sequel to a successful launch in the history of the initiative, also debuted.
REPLACED Delay Announced
The delay concerns REPLACED, a 2D platformer that garnered attention for its visual style. The project was initially announced in 2021 but faced production difficulties due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In December 2025, Sad Cat Studios and Thunderful Games announced an official release date of March 12, 2026. However, the release has been pushed back once again.
Recent Release Date and Availability
Sad Cat Studios announced that REPLACED will now debut on Xbox Series X|S on April 14, 2026, a delay of one month. The developers expressed gratitude for the community’s understanding. The game will remain a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, available to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers at no additional charge.
Reasons for the Delay
Originally slated for release in 2022, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine initially caused a delay. Since then, the project has undergone three schedule changes.
Sad Cat Studios stated that the game is technically ready but requires additional time for polishing and to ensure the best possible playable experience. They emphasized the importance of community feedback in making final adjustments.
“We want the version of REPLACED that you play on day one to be polished, stable, and faithful to the vision we share with you. The response to our demo was essential for us (…) We constantly read your feedback, and that feedback helped us make the final adjustments that will make the game shine completely,” the developers stated.

REPLACED puts players in the role of REACH, an AI trapped in a human body tasked with uncovering the secrets of the Phoenix Corporation. A free demo is currently available on Steam.
The development team is currently focused on bug fixes and sound effect improvements. Despite the delays, REPLACED remains a highly anticipated release for the Microsoft service.
