Rampant Derry far too strong for Offaly

Derry’s bid for an immediate return to Division One was boosted as they cruised to a third successive league victory with a 23-point hammering of Offaly in Celtic Park on Saturday evening.

It proved a nightmare return to the Oak Leaf County for former manager Mickey Harte who, along with his joint-manager Declan Kelly, must already be planning for life in Division Three next season following what was a fourth straight league defeat in four games.

After trailing by nine at half-time against Cork seven days previously, an understrength Offaly found themselves 20 points adrift of Ciaran Meenagh’s rampant Derry team who appear to gathering momentum with every passing week.
