Gerehu residents oppose settlers’ temporary relocation

RESIDENTS of Gerehu in Port Moresby are opposing a decision by authorities to temporarily resettle displaced families from Two-Mile and the Four-Mile Works compound in the suburb.

National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop had revealed a plan to relocate the displaced families for up to six months at the back of Gerehu Stage 7 – until they are repatriated. 

A public forum was organised on Saturday by the Gerehu residents to voice their concerns on the lack of consultation with them by the authorities on the relocation.
