Chang makes four consecutive centuries to beat Murphy

Chang Bingyu made four consecutive century breaks as he swept past Shaun Murphy 4-0 in the first round of the Welsh Open in Llandudno.

Chang opened with a run of 130, which he then followed up with 136, 119 and another 130 to stun former world champion Murphy – who potted just one solitary red in frame three.

“I honestly didn’t expect to play that well today,” world number 54 Chang said on the WST website.

“Before the match, my mindset was more about learning from him. After finishing the match, I felt really happy.”

Murphy hailed Chang’s performance as the “best” he had seen in a first-to-four contest.

“If that were Ronnie O’Sullivan or Judd Trump, it would be on the news,” he said.
