He described the throwing of flares onto the pitch both before and during the soccer game between Dundalk and Drogheda United, as “an organised and orchestrated attempt to destroy an investment made by Dundalk, with a substantial support from the Government.”

Speaking at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin today the Minister for Sport said that he had met with Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan on the issue, who is in agreeance that the perpetrators need to be brought before the courts in an effort to “stamp out this sort of behaviour”.
