Cork captain Ian Maguire has red card suspension reduced to one match 

Cork captain Ian Maguire has had his proposed two-match ban following a straight red card he received during last Sunday’s Allianz Division 2 Football League win over Meath reduced to one match, The Echo understands. 

Maguire was dismissed in the 56th minute of Cork’s 1-23 to 1-21 victory at Páirc Uí Rinn after an off-the-ball clash with Meath’s Adam O’Neill.

Referee Conor Dourneen cited the offence as “striking with force” in his match report, an infraction that carries an automatic two-match suspension.

The St Finbarr’s man brought his case before the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee on Thursday night.

The decision to reduce the suspension to one match was based on evidence produced.
