Eric Dane’s cause of death has been determined.
The Grey’s Anatomy actor, who died on Feb. 19 at age 53 years old, died from respiratory failure, according to The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in a death certificate, as reported by People magazine. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, is listed as an underlying cause of death.
“He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife [actress Rebecca Gayheart] and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” his family said in a statement on news of his death.
