The Postbus went up in flames in the center of Kerzers, Fribourg canton, around 6:25 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Initial investigations suggest a man deliberately set himself on fire, causing the blaze to spread rapidly through the vehicle.
Five people were injured, some critically. The suspected perpetrator, a Swiss citizen in his 60s from Bern, was reported missing by his family prior to the incident and is believed to be among the deceased. Police indicate he acted alone.
