Kharkiv, Ukraine – A series of Russian drone attacks in the Kharkiv region have resulted in civilian deaths and injuries, highlighting the ongoing dangers faced by residents in the area. The attacks, primarily utilizing First-Person View (FPV) drones, have targeted both infrastructure and individuals, exacerbating the already tense security situation.
Recent Attacks and Casualties
On March 15, 2026, a Russian FPV drone struck and killed a 58-year-old woman in Kozacha Lopan, a settlement located just 2 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine border. The attack occurred near her home, as reported by Viacheslav Zadorenko, the head of Derhachi military administration.
Another incident on March 17, 2026, involved a Russian FPV drone striking a shop in Slatyne, Kharkiv region, injuring two men. One of the injured was hospitalized, according to officials.
Earlier, on February 6, 2026, an FPV drone attack in the Derhachiv community resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man and injuries to his 51-year-old wife. The couple was attacked while traveling between Prudyanka and Tsupivka.
a resident of Dubivka was attacked by a Russian drone while moving through the Tsupivka area on the same day.
Border Region Vulnerability
Authorities have emphasized the extreme danger posed to civilians in border settlements, where Russian drones maintain control of the airspace. Vyacheslav Zadorenko stated that enemy drones show no regard for civilian life, and attacks are indiscriminate.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported increased enemy activity in the Kupyan region, with nearly a dozen attacks repelled on March 17. In total, 171 military clashes were recorded across Ukraine in the past 24 hours, accompanied by missile and air strikes, as well as kamikaze drone attacks.
Other Regional Developments
Beyond the drone attacks, the Kharkiv region has experienced other security incidents. A man was killed by an unknown explosive object in the village of Malye Prohody, and fires broke out in several locations, including an enterprise in Merefa and a private house in Rogan.
Authorities are also investigating cases of theft, including the stealing of heat meters in the Slobodsky district, and instances of individuals attempting to illegally cross the border with the assistance of smugglers.
Economic Impacts
The Main Department of Statistics in the Kharkiv region reported a 1.1% increase in consumer prices in February, with vegetables experiencing the most significant price surge (11.5%). Yet, prices for oil, meat, and railway transport decreased during the same period.
