The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing allegations that actor-turned-politician and TVK chief Vijay allowed his vehicle to move beyond a designated stopping point during a campaign rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur shortly before a stampede that killed 41 people last September.
Sources said the vehicle carrying Vijay was required to halt at least 20 metres before the final location where it eventually stopped.
Investigators are examining whether the deviation contributed to the sudden crowd surge that led to the deadly incident.
