Forensic examination under way in Derry after woman dies

A forensic examination is under way in Derry at the house which is at the centre of a murder investigation.

A woman was found badly injured at the property at Summer Meadow Mews on the Waterside area of the city at around 10:20am.

She died later at Altnagelvin Hospital in the city.

Police remain at the scene.

A security cordon has been placed around the house and forensic officers have moved inside.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Inspector Michelle Griffin from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones, who are left trying to come to terms with this shocking loss.”
