Jon Rahm has withdrawn his appeal against sanctions imposed by the DP World Tour for playing conflicting LIV Golf events but is refusing to pay his outstanding fines.
He owes a fine of between €1.7m and €2.5m, according to various media reports and it is understood he will not be able to compete in DP World Tour events until he settles up.
With the two-time major winning showing no inclination of paying his fines or accepting the conditional release taken by eight other LIV golfers – including his European Team partner Tyrrell Hatton – his participation in next year’s Ryder Cup in serious doubt.
