Cancelling train tickets? Indian Railways has just changed the cancellation charges

Indian Railways has revised its cancellation rules for confirmed tickets and announced a change in boarding point norms, allowing passengers more flexibility before departure. The updated rules define penalties based on the time left for cancellation and introduce a new window for changing boarding stations.

The revised rules will be implemented in phases between April 1 and April 15, 2026.
