Funeral of Michael Lyster takes place in Dublin

The funeral ceremony for former RTÉ Sport broadcaster Michael Lyster, has taken place in Dublin.

The 71-year-old, best known for presenting The Sunday Game for over three decades, died last weekend.

Family and friends gathered in the Victorian Chapel, in Mount Jerome in Harold’s Cross for the ceremony.

Among mourners present were people he shared the TV studio with including former Cork hurler Tomás Mulcahy, Derry’s Joe Brolly, and Cyril Farrell, former manager of the Galway hurling team.

Pádraic Joyce, the current Galway football manager, was also in attendance.

President Catherine Connolly was represented by her aide-de-camp.
