Cillian Keane to contest Galway West by-election for FF

Fianna Fáil has selected a 25-year-old first-time councillor to run for the party in the upcoming Galway West by-election.

Cillian Keane was selected by delegates at a party convention in the Salthill Hotel this evening.

He was first elected to Galway County Council in the 2024 local elections, for the Oranmore- Baile Átha an Rí (Athenry) area.

He is from the Maree Oranmore area on the eastern fringe of the constituency.

Cllr Keane is a UCD graduate with a degree in Food and Agribusiness.

The contest to fill the seat vacated by Catherine Connolly on her election as President, is expected to be held in late May.
