LTFRB steps up safety checks ahead of Holy Week exodus

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has begun intensified inspections of buses and public utility vehicles (PUVs) nationwide in preparation for the Holy Week travel surge.

On Sunday, LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II ordered all regional directors to implement a nationwide roadworthiness inspection protocol. According to Mendoza, coordination with local government units (LGUs) and law enforcement agencies is critical to maximize road safety enforcement.
