Suwon Taejang Elementary School Makes Waves in National Badminton – A Sign of Rising Youth Sports Excellence
Suwon Taejang Elementary School has demonstrated its strength in national badminton competitions.
At the ‘2026 3rd Lee Yong-dae Dream Tree Badminton Championship’ held from February 7th to 13th at the Hapcheon Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, Taejang Elementary School players won both first and third place, proving the prowess of the local badminton scene.
The tournament, co-hosted by the Korea Elementary Badminton Federation and the Lee Yong-dae Scholarship Foundation, brought together approximately 600 elementary school players from across the country to compete in singles and doubles events by grade level. The players showcased their speed and concentration throughout the tournament, which consisted of a group league stage followed by a tournament bracket.
Taejang Elementary School stood out. The Jeong Si-woo and Jin Min-jun pair in the 5th-grade boys’ doubles event took first place, while the Lee Jun-hee and An Si-yoon pair in the 4th-grade boys’ doubles event finished third. The team’s balanced strength was demonstrated by two pairs placing in the national-level tournament.
Jang Hoon-hee, coach of the Taejang Elementary School badminton team, said, “The players’ hard operate and dedication during training led to their performance.” He added, “We will further refine the basics and teamwork to continue the good momentum in the next tournament.”
Lee Yong-dae, a star in Korean badminton, visited the tournament to encourage the young players. He offered messages of congratulations and support, urging them to challenge themselves and grow.
