Apple Targets October 13 for Smart Home Hardware Entry
Apple prepares to enter the smart home hardware market on October 13 with three new products, according to reports by Bloomberg News and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The upcoming launch features a new smart home hub named the HomePad, which adopts an iMac G4 design. Additionally, the company plans to introduce refreshed HomePod mini colors and an updated Apple TV model equipped with Siri AI. This push represents Apple's long-awaited entry into a major new product category within the home automation sector.
Why it matters
Apple already offers entertainment devices like Apple TV and audio products such as the HomePod, but it has not previously fielded a dedicated smart home hub to command connected living spaces. The timing aligns with broader hardware and software rollouts, following the release of iPadOS 27 and its headline Siri AI feature on September 14. Rival technology firms have spent years establishing ecosystems in the smart home category, making Apple's planned October 13 introduction a delayed but significant market expansion.
