Jailbroken PS5s now emulate PS2 games via physical discs

The PS5SX2 emulator now allows jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles to load and play games directly from original PlayStation 2 discs. Released as a beta in version 2.01 on October 10, the software enables users to dump discs to the console SSD. The emulator provides 4K upscaling and can run games at up to 120 FPS. This update removes the need for external ROM downloads, allowing users to utilize their own physical libraries on hardware where Sony has not provided native PS2 disc support.

   Why it matters

PS5SX2 is a native port of the PCSX2 emulator designed for modified consoles. While PS2 emulation on PS5 previously existed, this version introduces direct hardware disc reading. This development follows recent advancements in PS5 jailbreaking.
