Kim Jong Un urges 'military revolution' amid border tensions

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for a 'military revolution' to build the 'world's strongest armed forces', days after his sister Kim Yo Jong threatened to 'mercilessly eliminate' South Korean forces. Tensions have surged along the border, with North Korea preparing border loudspeakers. Kim Jong Un's announcement comes amid rumors about his health and succession.

   Why it matters

The developments raise concerns about the stability of the Korean Peninsula, where North and South Korea have been technically at war since 1953. The two countries have a history of tense relations, with North Korea frequently threatening military action against its southern neighbor. Kim Jong Un's push for a stronger military may be seen as a bid to assert his leadership and secure the country's position.
