PS Plus October 2026 Lineup Sparks User Backlash

PlayStation Plus subscribers are expressing widespread dissatisfaction regarding the free monthly games offered for October 2026. The official lineup features three titles: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. This selection represents a drop from four games to three, leaving many users unimpressed during the traditionally spooky month. In response to the disappointing offerings, Sony has dropped ten bonus free gifts to subscribers and introduced exclusive Halloween downloadable content. Regional variations have also emerged, with Japan receiving a different substitute game instead of Hunt: Showdown 1896.

   Why it matters

User polls and community sentiment indicate low satisfaction with the October 2026 offerings because the niche sports and action titles lack broad mass appeal. The inclusion of a racing simulation as a marquee title during October has drawn specific criticism from players expecting horror or seasonal themes. Regional catalog adjustments further complicate the rollout across different territories.
