Ireland midfielder Ellen Molloy has cut short her time at Sheffield United and returned home due to “personal reasons”.

The Kilkenny native moved to the Championship club from Wexford last September but after four months, she has decided to return home to Ireland having agreed to terminate her contract with the Blades.

Molloy has won six senior caps to date having returned to the squad after a two-year absence last October, and paid tribute to Sheffield United after making seven appearances for the struggling club.

“I want to thank all the players, staff and fans for making me feel so welcomed and appreciated at this amazing club,” she said.
