Former Eurovision winner Linda Martin has said a political party has approached her to run for President of Ireland.
Asked whether she would indeed run next year, when Michael D Higgins’s second and final term is over, the singer said she is currently “mulling it over”.
The Belfast native (72) couldn’t reveal which party had approached her, however she added that she would consider running with the party rather than as an Independent.
Martin, who runs a dog sanctuary in north Dublin, told RTÉ Radio One’s Oliver Callan on Wednesday morning: “I’m saying nothing at all. That’s all I’m saying.
