One of my patients, who had come in for a review after undergoing a procedure to clear his blocked arteries, was happy to see that his parameters were not only in range but he felt much younger, refreshed and energetic. Not just because he exercised for 40 minutes every day. He made sure that the gains were not diluted by becoming a couch potato in his waking hours.

A desk job employee with eight hours of sitting, he made sure he took walking and stretching breaks at work and did not lounge around when home. He would do some chores or do some gardening instead of flopping down on the sofa. His parameters were the best he had ever had in his life because of his mobility and activity levels. And he wished that he had been as conscious before his heart attack.
