Owner of property housing asylum seekers secures High Court order preventing protesters from harassing residents

The High Court in Dublin

The owner of an 18th Century property in Kildare housing almost 100 female asylum seekers has secured a High Court order preventing protesters from harassing or intimidating the residents, staff or contractors at the property after plans for a new water connection had to be stopped over safety concerns.

At the High Court today, Mr Justice Brian Cregan was told that earlier this month a new water connection was due to be installed at Ryevale House in Leixlip, Co Kildare, but a foreman was told by a protester at the location that works would not commence “unless the contractor was prepared to hit him with the bucket of his digger”.
