According to the representative of the defense forces, even if Ukraine decides to strike, the chances of success are small.
Despite the fears, Ukrainians consider it unlikely to attack the parade on May 9 in the capital of Russia in Moscow. About this writes The Washington Post with reference to a source in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
It is noted that in Russia speculations are intensified that Ukraine can take this opportunity to put the Kremlin in an awkward position in front of its allies.
However, a senior representative of the Ukrainian defense forces told the publication that an attempt is unlikely due to low chances of success.
“As you can see, all Russian air defense systems are transferred to protect Moscow. Even if there is an attempt, it will not be successful. Perhaps Ukraine will strike at other regions, but not in Moscow,” he said.
Another representative of the defense department added that the attack on the event on Red Square, which is planned to visit officials from China, India and even Europe, can cause response from Russia and defeat Washington. He called the assumptions that Ukraine is planning an attack, “inflated.”
Blows in Moscow
Ukrainian attacks on Moscow in the last two days have led to the closure of airports in Moscow and other regions. Four Moscow airports – Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky – temporarily suspended work on Tuesday because of the night attacks of seedlings.
Ukraine began to regularly strike in Russia with the help of drones in the spring of 2023 – two drones, stated, reached the environs of the Kremlin, but were shot down. Since then, Kyiv has mainly aimed at Russian oil storage facilities and military facilities outside of Moscow. Sometimes objects in the capital are objects, but without a special effect.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that 19 drones were shot down in the early morning approaching Moscow. According to him, they did not cause victims and did not cause serious damage. The fragments of the drone, shot down by Moscow air defense, fell on a residential building near the Kashirskaya metro station, about 11 kilometers from the Kremlin.
