One in five dodgy box owners have been hit by fraud or a scam from using the devices, a new survey says, while the amounts lost to fraudsters are up to six times higher
The data, collected by Sapio Research among 500 Irish adults for the anti-piracy organisation BeStreamWise, claims that one in five dodgy box users have been victims of fraud, scams or identity theft as a result of illegal streaming.
It also claims that dodgy box users lose six times more money when hit by fraud or scams, compared to those who don’t stream spoilt and movies illegally.
